Utility Room Craft Cabinet

IMGP1133

This isn’t rocket science. We all reach a point when we open a cabinet door and say a stapler falls out, lands on our little toe and almost decapitates it.

Though I exaggerate, and this hasn’t happened yet, this cabinet in my utility room was just about ready to spit something out at me, if I didn’t do something about the mess.

IMGP1132

So I emptied everything out, made a huge mess, and found buried treasure.

        Like these.

IMGP1134

And this pattern- so I could re-visit my plan a year ago to create Tory Burch look-alike tunics.

IMGP1136

However, my favorite find was this-

IMGP1137

My mother’s cap for her sprinkling bottle when she ironed.  This was definitely worth the mess. So now things look like this.

IMGP1151

IMGP1152

Does anyone else get irritated making labels?  I do- I rank making labels right up there with wrapping gifts.

IMGP1157

IMGP1156

And what about the stuff that was taken out of the cabinet- and not returned?

I’ll think about that tomorrow.

Wow, good job. Isn't it wonderful how God sneaks little gifts for us as rewards, like your mom's sprinking bottle cap.

Enjoy your beautiful revamped cabinet!

I'd clean out my closet if I had a closet. Right now I have bins and baskets in a corner of the family room, my table filled with bits and pieces of projects half done. Somehow I thrive in the messiness of it all.

Great Job! I love getting something organized. I have done quite a bit of that since the first of the year and it feels really good. Your project looks really nice and you'll find a place for the extra stuff. Also finding your Mama's sprinkler top:) sweet memories for me. My Mama used to do that too!

Have a blessed day dear Laura! Enjoy!

My mom used to "sprinkle" the clothes, roll them up and put them in the freezer until she had time to iron. Hadn't thought of that in years!!

Great job Laura! I keep saying I'm going to do some serious organizing... when I retire... that makes it in about 6-years for me... wonder if I can hold out for the wait?

Ah well...

Oh, Laura, it is looking good! I love to organize and I love labels although I do not like to wrap gifts. You must feel such a sense of accomplishment! Nice job!

I just did a post at the start of the month about cleaning out my craft room and the treasures I found, hidden away. I too got out my label maker and got to work but some of my boxes had to have more than one title for their contents. Did I say that I spent all New Year's Eve, New Year's Day and that Saturday in that one room. It was worth it. Now I have to promise to keep it clean.

Oh I did that same tacky chore a few months ago. It really is amazing what you find. Yours looks just fantastic. I love all the bins. Hugs, marty

Great job!!! I love your Mom's little sprinkling cap. That is precious.
OK. Now your beautifully organized cabinets and your mom's sweet sprinkler have totally guilted me into organizing and ironing. Let's see...where DID I put that iron. :)

Love your organization. I'm going to have to "borrow" your storage box idea. I hate it when my good stuff is a mess.

When I do that I am moving things from one cabinet to another. I have to start getting rid of things. It is so hard for some of us. Your's does look much better.

Looks fabulous! And I love your Mom's iron bottle topper...too too cute! I think my Mom just had a plain old silver cap. Last year after Christmas I made it a mission to clean out closets, etc and I did. I was thrilled it was done and over with. Except for one...now I must get it done this month. It's kind of out of sight so I keep forgetting about it but your post reminded me. I have just stuck a reminder note on the computer board. Happy Ground Hog's Day. He didn't see his shadow here. yeah!

Love those containers. RE: Labels. I love to label things, but getting the labels on exactly, perfectly straight sometimes drives me crazy. ;-) xoxo

Yes! I hate making labels... But - I enjoy wrapping presents, it's kind of relaxing to me and I enjoy making pretty bows.

Your new cabinet looks great! It's such a good feeling when it's all done; I just wish my urge to do it would come around more often.

Laura, what day did you say your organizing class begins? ;) Gee I would sure sign up. Everything looks so nice. I'm excited for you that you found your mom's sprinkling cap. It's so cute. I have my mother in law's sprinkiling bottle...a decorated pop bottle. I love it!

What a great job you did! And, I love your finds! Where did you get your plastic containers? Then seem easy to access.

Love your redone closet.....It's so much fun to open them when you're all finished, isn't it? Such a great reward.

My mom had a glass coke bottle with a silver colored sprinkler top on it that she used when she ironed--I wonder what ever happened to that old thing? Love your rose sprinkler top--and envy your lovely/clean/organized craft cabinet!
