Cooling Down a Fall Tablescape

IMG_2029

This morning , instead of doing things that were on my list, I decided to create a fall tablescape that felt cool (as in temperature).

Since it is in the 90’s here, I couldn’t use the weather as my inspiration.

I decided to play fall colors off of a cool color like white, a cool metal color like silver, and a cool glass color like mercury glass.

When I think of Woodland Spode, I don’t necessarily think of white, but I love how it looks with a bright white charger and mercury glass.

Everything cools down a bit, even if it is still hot and muggy outside.

When that first ‘norther’ does blow in , colors may change around here even further,

but for now I am just trying to stay cool.

I LOVE mercury glass and I love this table setting - Fall Chic! It's 93 here on September 15th! Time to cool things down and see some trees changing color. I've been holding on to summer but I'm now content to gracefully let it go. Would love to go shopping for pansies!

Oh I LOVE your Spode with the white and silver!! I have the Spode Woodland "American Horses" and I used white and silver with it. I love the fish too, but I only have the 4 horses. I love the color of the placemats with the china also! Beautiful table!!

Oh, Laura, that table is beautiful!! I love the mercury glass. Perfect with the fall colors.

We are definitely cool here and it looks like summer is ending and fall jumping in. I remember living in Texas and summer lasted about 6 or 7 months, or at least it seemed like it did.

Hi Laura!
How pretty!
I found a silver ceramic pumpkin this summer at Good Will for $3.50.
Silver is in my Fall decor this year, too!
Need to get the rest of it out and add white to it like you did, I love it!
Hugs and you are so COOL!

Very pretty! You did add an interesting cool feel to your autumnal 'scape with the addition of those elements. I really like the mercury glass candle holders and the berry rings around them.

I really like the mixture of the brown transferware and the white dishes with the mercury glass! So classic and fresh looking at the same time. And the silverware pattern- I am in love with that- could you share the name of the manufacturer? Thanks, Laura- Sue

If that will make me feel cooler...I'm setting the table for fall today! Yours is beautiful. And what is that flatware pattern? I love it! I am sooooo ready for cool weather to descend on south Texas!

Scribbler said...

Very pretty combination and one I wouldn't have thought of! You can bet I am filing away that idea of "cooling it"!

Debbie said...

It's PERFECT! I know exactly what you mean about trying to cool down the table because it's so stinking hot here.

The white with the silver with the other autumnal colors looks absolutely wonderful, and I wouldn't have thought to do it. It's the perfect solution for the wannabe fall around here.

Love it!

Your table is beautiful, I understand about the temps outside effecting our ability to present fall inside. Your Spode is just perfect for your table setting. I am so into silver right now that I can't stop myself from displaying it all over the house. Thanks for posting your beautiful table.

I haven't even decorated for fall yet. It's been too hot for it to even feel like fall, but I noticed the calendar today and it dawned on me it's the middle of September so I better get started!

I really like what you did, especially the berry wreath. It's nice that you went with more muted oranges and browns instead of the typical bright orange and golds.

Oh I have the same pattern. I started collection the woodlands a few years ago & love it! I use my coffee mugs everyday.
I hope that you are doing well! Will is see you in Warrenton this show? :)

This is my first visit to your blog, and your table is stunning! I am a self professed "dish-a-holic" LOL, and my family agrees. I have some very old wheat dishes that belonged to my mom-in-law that I love to use in the Fall, even though I never met her they give me a connection to her, and I enjoy using them. I'm new to blogging, when you have a moment please come up to New England for a visit - it's beautiful this time of year, it's always exciting to have a new Follower! Thank you, I enjoyed my visit today! Have a lovely weekend!

Love the white with the woodland spode plates. Where in the world did you find the silverware with the bees on it? It's adorable and I might NEED some myself.
