Runaways

IMG_3748

It tickles me to think about the journey

treasures in my home made

to reach my doorstep.

It was not an easy trip.

IMG_3762

It is almost like a band of

runaways-

jammed in boxes, Goodwill pallets,

flea market crates,

all with mysterious beginnings,

somehow
reaching my line of vision.

How is that possible?

I have no idea, but I don’t

know of anything that is more fun

or a more

simple pleasure.

IMG_3764

Regardless of the

run of hard luck or disinterest

these abandoned treasures seem to

represent,

I see their beauty.

In fact,

I have so many treasures in the back

of my truck right now,

they jingle, clink,

and clank

every time I put on the brakes.

That was really a lovely post! Your words paid tribute to your wonderful treasures! Had to laugh at the rolling around in the truck, though!

I love how all things seem to come together for us..an unexpected treasure unearthed, a sweet little something that we found, part of someone's dream that has been discarded...adopted by us and renewed. We are treasure hunters and collectors, and dreamers...a few old souls thrown together by happenstance..and here we are...blogging and smiling at each other's "finds". I love yours- You did good! Hugs-Diana

That was sweet. I sometimes think of my place like that - a whole lot of orphans from around the continent and wherever we were posted. Nothing matches but it all somehow goes together.

I too love to rescue other peoples cast offs -- especially the (sometimes strange) pottery things made by kids at school.

Wonderful treasures. As a child, I was taught the value of others discards...some Saturdays were spent at flea markets and yard sales finding useful treasures to make our home more beautiful.

Oh, how I wish I put more time into thrifting. Maybe one day. Gorgeous finds.

This was great. I loved seeing the treasures while reading your thoughts about their journeys. I had never thought about it before, and I thought it was so neat the way you wrote it.

Wouldn't that be a cute idea for a children's book?

You know, I often think these things I fancy as vintage where somebody elses rejects...Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. Thrifting is such a wonderful simple pleasure.

What neat treasure you have found. Yes, what one may give up will be such a wonderful addition to add to the previous treasure trove. And I too had to giggle at the thought of them clinking in the back seat waiting to be added to the other treasures.

Laura,
I have always treasured things from the past. I like to picture where they may have been used and by whom. I especially like the things I've been given by my grandmothers because I've seen where they were used and how lovingly they were cared for.
