Dear Daughters: Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes

Dear Daughters,

All of the usual suspects creating problems in the world today

were the same in my generation as they are now.

The difference is

the soundtrack was better.

And yes I owned the album above.

It contains a song that is a primer for living today-

even though it is 40 years later.

You don’t have to be punditized to get the message.

Just listen to

”Wake Up Everybody”

by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.

Besides…,

it will be a lot more fun.

Love, Mom

Oh yes - the soundtrack of the 60's and 70's was great!

Gotta love that old music. I was telling my daughter that there were "messages" in those old songs- from protesting the Vietnam war to the heart-rending breakups of "Leaving On A Jet Plane" to "Send In The Clowns"...all songs that I hear that take me back to an earlier, simpler time in my life- xo Diana

Love that album and loved the lead singer Teddy Pendergrass! Yes indeed. Our generation had THE best music. Hands down.

I guess I need to go have a listen... doesn't ring a bell for me.
But... I must agree...times really haven't changed so much, still just as hard as they used to be, Only the names have been changed to protect the guilty, I say!
And...yes, back in the day, the music was better!

thanks for the tip on music, always love going to youtube and listening to some good ol'tunes... Pat

Have you seen clocks made from vinyl records? That would be a great keepsake. Just getting back in touch with blogging, as I have just opened my new boutique and will be having a give away soon. Would love to hear your input so far.....it is a work in progress.

I remember that song! It is truly a good one. Wish they would bring it back... I think one singer may have at one point. I'd love to hear Little Stevie Wonder... yep, that's what we called him in my day.. sing it. Few could do it justice.
Have a great day, Miss Laura.
