Sunny and Bright Summer Home Tour

Sunny and Bright 3 (1)
Welcome to the 2016 Sunny and Bright Summer Homes Tour hosted by Terri of Our Good Life.
Terri is such a gracious and very talented blogger.
We are so glad you are here.
Our tour schedule this week is
Monday:  Laura at White Spray Paint
Tuesday : Stacey at Poofing the Pillows
Wednesday:  Joyce at At Home with Jemma
Thursday:  Terri at Our Good Life
Friday: Laura at Decor to Adore
Let’s get started!

Today’s tour is of two areas in our home that are places of comfort
to get out of the fierce South Texas summer heat:
the living room and our kitchen sitting area.
It is no surprise that I love blue and white and flea market finds.
In our living room,
I didn’t need another dining table , but when I saw the one above at a church rummage sale
several years ago, I couldn’t resist.
It has often served as an extra dining table when needed, but recently, I have used
it as a library table.
I added some of my favorite design and garden books and of course more blue and white,
and I now have a ‘library’ in our living room.Sunny and Bright LR
The living room has always been a challenge to arrange because it is
long and narrow. My philosophy about design challenges in our home is
fairly simple:
After talking the problem to death with our three daughters,
I just ignore the problem and do what I like.
This spring and summer
that has been the addition of hot pink to match my favorite bougainvillea
color.

Earlier this summer, I also added apple green in our
kitchen sitting area, and I love how the green looks with blue and white.

This is the perfect place to read books from my ‘library’,
and it also the perfect place to call Daughters #1,2,and 3 on the phone and go a bridge too far with
my decorating questions.

I always know when that has happened because they begin by saying,
“Mother, we talked about that…”
And then I get off the phone and do what I want.
Thank you for stopping by my blog and home and thank you to Terri for including me in the
Sunny and Bright Summer Homes Tour.

Don’t forget to visit everyone!

I surely had a good chuckle about talking to the three daughters and them saying "Mother, we've already talked about this" and then you wind up doing what you want too anyway! CRACKED ME UP! I know where you are coming from. The exact same thing happens between me and my three daughters too! Love it! I do love your splashes of pink my friend. Everything looks so inviting. But you know by now I am a huge fan of your blue and white! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

Love the idea of the table for a library. How fun is that and I love your style too. Hot pink, zebra and apple green certainly go with anything in my book.

I could not have passed up the table either because it is a perfect library table in your room. I'm a great blue and white fan and like your green and fushia accents very much.
I always enjoy your daughter wisdom.

I enjoyed the little tour - as I have said before, I too love blue and white. It was great to see the little splashes of hot pink; I also love bougainvillea. Have a wonderful day, Laura.

Your summery home is beautiful. I am especially drawn to all of the blue and white which I have a little bit of an obsession with myself. I also have the same dining table that I found on Craigslist. I love the idea of making it into a library table as we hardly ever use the dining room for sit down dinners. We have a huge number of books too and I think this would be a grand way to showcase some of them. Thank you for the inspiration Laura!
Blessings dear lady,
Patti

Happy Summer, Laura! I have a long, narrow family room that presents its challenges too, and I like your idea of the dining table used for a library table. Very smart. Both your greens and pinks bring that pop to the spaces that speaks of the season. I like both!

What a fearless use of patterns!

This is the first time I did a double-take on a zebra rug. I usually run away from animal prints but this, made me look twice and actually study how you decorated your space.

Your home is beautiful Laura and I love that touch of hot pink!
I can totally relate with the mother/daughter conversations. My oldest finally told me, "Mother if I have to explain twerking 1 more time..." LOL What can I say I had a senior moment and forgot.
