I Miss Them Already

IMGP0104      These are pictures of the remnants of our grandsons’ visit this week. They left today. I miss them desperately.  Everyday we had all sorts of water contraptions on the patio.IMGP0111

This is my oldest grandson’s doodle bug jar. We made wonderful memories.

Hi Laura - thanks for your comments. I was planning on doing a fall garden if I can get my act together. My daughter will be moving back to college in August sometime. And if the temps stay in the 100's, I doubt I'm going to get myself out there at all. We'll see... Guess I should check with the Almanac and see what the planting times are...

I know you enjoyed your grandsons there. You almost want to leave everything just the way they left it I'm sure - even the doodlebugs!
I love that outdoor shower! Little boys NEED an outdoor shower before they can come inside and have a real shower, don't they?

I know exactly how you feel. My granddaughter has been gone for a month and not a day goes by that I don't miss her. She lives too far away for my liking. There's just something about being a grandmother, isn't there? Karen

Awww! It's so quiet I suppose. Shoot. Don't wash the windows of the hand prints quite yet.

Laura,

I can't even believe what it would be like to let those grandkids go if they were mine! Oh, gosh..crying in to my tea!! If you know anything about me, you know I dread the empty nest... I want the noise!! I don't know what I will do with myself....just too much to think about now...

So glad you had a wonderful time with your grandkids!!

xoxo

this is such a special post! to me, the photos really illustrate the saying that "the most important things in life are not things"?!? because all of these lovely playthings are so empty without your precious grandchildren...life really is bittersweet, no? and yet the real beauty lies in the fact that you care and love enough to miss them:) thanks for sharing this post!

Laura... I too know exactly how you feel... my little Romeo comes, visits, plays, hounds Grandpa in the tool shed, rearranges things on the sofa table and then leaves... the house is quiet... no thump-thump-thump as he runs from one end of the farmhouse to the other... and the things on the sofa table... I usually leave them that way, even dusting around them, for weeks after he's gone... Oh now.. I've made myself miss him more...

I'm going to have to try the hose sprinkler hanging down from the tree for him next time he comes... he will love that!

thanks for sharing your heart... hugs. Dixie

I know how you feel! The house is always too quiet and empty when they leave. Love the way you rigged up an outdoor shower. I'll have to try that! Linda

More lovely memories will be made in the future, but letting go of past sweet times is so hard. Take a nice quiet break to gather your memories and keep them as treasures for another day when the missing is not so sharp.

Looks like everyone had tons of fun and made lots of beautiful memories. I am sure they are begging their parents to take them back to grandmas!

Oh Laura, I'm sorry your heart is breaking. I need to always remember how fortunate my three little grandsons live just 15 mins. from me. It does look like there was tons of fun and memories being made at your house, though.
