Change Your Plates Ladies

IMG_6600

Years ago, on a shopping trip with my girls to the Fiesta Outlet in Canton,

I bought 12 Fiesta dinner plates in different colors.

At one point during that visit, all four of us were on different rows of the warehouse.

All I could hear was the clanking of plates,

that passed muster (no flaws),

as they were placed in shopping carts

by my daughters.

My mother and my aunts, all Fiesta aficionados,

would have been very proud.

In honor of the HEAT,

I switched out my daily dishes and started using my Fiesta plates.

Each day, when I reach in the cabinet for a plate

is a

NEW DAY.

I love the surprise.

Today it is turquoise at supper; tomorrow it may be red at breakfast.

Tonight’s Supper Sprinkle Salad

Sprinkle salad greens on a pretty plate

Sprinkle greens with

feta, strawberry slices, craisens, and almonds

add avocado slices if you like

Drizzle with my boyfriend Paul Newman’s Balsamic Vinaigrette

(no, I am not drinking the stuff- I am just a tad addicted)

Start changing out your plates ladies!

Everyday is a

NEW DAY.

Real Food

It's time for Sunday Favorites again thanks to Chari at Happy to Design.

I think this is the greatest idea because we can all share some of our favorite posts from days past.

I do not profess to be an expert at authentic Mexican food preparation, but I know people who are, and they recommend this tiny, small town cookbook, South Texas Mexican Cookbook.

Created by a home economics teacher , Lucy Garza from Falfurrias, Texas, it is often used as the go to wedding gift for new brides. A dear friend of mine gave one to our oldest daughter when she got married.

Regardless of whether or not you aspire to create authentic Mexican fare or not, this little cookbook shares all the secrets of a home cook ,as opposed to what you might find on a Tex-Mex menu somewhere.

To add to the fun is colored Fiesta of course. After all, the name means party.
It is a great backdrop for this type of food, unless of course you own Talavera from Dolores Hidalgo or Puebla.

That topic will require a completely new post, it is so amazing...
