Dear Daughters: Halloween Confession

Halloween-Candy1

Dear Daughters,

I confess…

When you were little, I may have searched through your Halloween candy under

the guise of looking for razor blades or other

threats to your safety

(hallucinogenic tattoos or LSD laced suckers)

so I could

pick out my favorite chocolate candy (Snickers) or other candy (Reese’s Peanut Butter cups).

I confess…

that Halloween costumes were not in my wheel house,

especially after a long hard day of teaching English,

so with great dramatic encouragement

and the lure of all of my jewelry and makeup,

I talked you into being a gypsy or a witch

year after year.

There…

I feel better.

Trick or Treat!

I love you,

Mom

I am laughing out loud Laura. I could have written this to my girls. Thank you dear friend for bringing those pillow case full of candy memories back to me.

I love it!!! I read this to my 38 yr. old daughter and she made me go to YouTube and watch Jimmy Kimmel's "I ate all your Halloween candy". if you haven't seen it you'll die laughing!

I'm not a huge fan of Halloween decor, but we always carved pumpkins and went trick or treating. My mom was crazy about all holidays and made them special for my children who are now grown. I miss her so much, but I do carry on her tradition of fall decor and Christmas in every room.

Golly! I thought I was the only mom who did this. I'm not a big candy lover but there are a couple of those treats that I like... Payday is the top of the list!
And then what about those big bags of candy you buy in anticipation of the little munchkins? And then they don't show up? And then you have to eat what wasn't claimed??? Yikes!
Trick or Treat
Smell my feet
Give me something good to eat!

I think all of us moms are guilty of this! I have all boys and they weren't too fond of chocolate so they usually just gave it to me:) They liked all the sour stuff!

My daughters will never again smear wicked stuff on their face after years of being talked into witches and pumpkins. It was too cold here for princesses and fairies. So for a party this year my 28 yr. old was Tinkerbell!

Well as long as we are all confusing, I may have snuck into my kids candy after they were in bed and taken a few pieces myself! I'm sure that they did not miss them and after all we've got to have some holiday fun too. Jennifer

Too funny! I've done the same thing with our girl's Halloween candy and I can remember my mother "sorting" ours when we were small. I guess it's one of the perks of being a mom, right?
