Valentine’s Day Gift Talk

IMG_2275

This goes out to all of you who probably have wonderful tales (both past and present) of romance to tell,

but Valentine’s Day 2014 has ended up being more about laughing and shrugging your shoulders.

***

Setting:  waiting room of the doctor’s office today

Me, kicking the ant bed:  “I think I need a BIG diamond for Valentine’s Day.”

My husband, mumbling: “mumble, mumble, mumble, trying to break us, mumble, mumble…”

Me: smiling because he took the bait

My husband, handing me a magazine a few minutes later: “I think you really need this.

This could really help you do YOUR yard work.”

Don’t you want a Boom Lift trailer or Dr. Stump Grinder?

Here are some gifts he has given me in years’ past:

*a high pressure washer ( I am on my second one)

* a garden wagon with collapsible sides (I am on my second one)

* a baseball glove

* and LOTS of things he doesn’t know he gave me !

Happy Valentine’s Day!

It's always the THOUGHT that counts!! Right?? My husband gave me a sweet tender card.....I gave him one out of a children's pack of Duck Dynasty ones that said "Happy, Happy, HAPPY!"

I'd go for the boom-lift trailer, myself. Happy Valentines Day!

Hubby let me use his Mastercard to buy some makeup at Macy's. Later he told me that was my Valentine's Day gift. After we had dinner tonight, which I cooked as usual, I told him that was his.

I got a rototiller one year for my birthday. He uses it now to "manicure" our beach!

XO,
Jane

Love it! My husband instructed our son that a man should NEVER give a gift that plugs in unless the woman EXPRESSLY requested it! And, yes, one year I asked for a weed-eater.

It's definitely the THOUGHT that counts! :) This year I was stunned to receive the DVD of Season Four of Downton Abbey. We don't usually exchange gifts on Valentine's Day, so it was a real treat.

Yes! I found out long ago it's just better to say you are saving them the time away from their...whatever and shopping for yourself. Of course they get the bill but again, they didn't have to do the shopping at the last minute and we get what we want. This time of year it has always been yard things. I got a tiller for Anniversary years ago.

Oh, Laura!

Perfect and priceless. Did the magazine just HAPPEN to be right there in his hands at the opportune moment, picked up back when he sat down and you were still signing in? Was it a happenstance, or did it ride into the room in a pocket, handy to be whipped out and flourished when the conversation turned to diamonds?

That is hilarious, and though my own DH leans to pink and sweet and unexpected little happies all year long, he can find bows to fit around power tools, carpet, or ice machines.

Enjoy your 24-carat stump remover, hon. It's pure LOVE.

says Rachel, who simply LOVES her (requested) power washer

Well lets face it.
BIG diamond rings really aren't that practical are they.
Not to mention...who wants to dig up the Petunias looking for a lost diamond in the garden anyway, right?
:)

Well I guess since you are on your second one of a couple of things he gave you, then you must have put them to good use :)
