New Zinnia Planting Method

This spring I used a new method for planting my zinnia seeds.

Rather than planting the seed in rows or sections of color and variety,

I followed well known Arkansas gardening expert P. Allen Smith's method.

I mixed all of the seed together in a bowl and then planted.

The end result, which I will show you next week, is fun and and creates a wonderful mix of color.

This video explains his simple method.

I just love zinnias! They are beautiful. I guess I've always planted a mixed variety-- I don't recall ever having just one color.
When my oldest was about 1 year old I began planting them and every year I'd save seeds and next year we'd plant them. Like planting from her first year of birth...over and over.
I don't remember what happened, but somewhere around here are seeds from about her 15th or 16th year...in an envelope. waiting to be planted. :/

have fun with yours!

Every year I declare that I am going to have zinnias, and every year I forget. Perhaps in this new garden.....
