The Off Beat

IMG_5595

(my grandsons have been here all week)

Last week , while driving back from a day trip to the beach,

I looked in the rear view mirror,

while the song you are now hearing was playing on my IPod,

and my two grandsons were singing along

quietly,

’COOLY’,

looking out their respective Hauler 2 windows,

nodding their heads

to

what I like to call

the

Off Beat

the cool beat,

the not trying so hard beat,

the beat that follows the listening,

the beat that shows you have the confidence

TO WAIT,

because it isn’t going anywhere,

which is so, so different than

on the beat

nodding.

I WAS SO PROUD.

I love this post! Not because your grandchildren are so darn cute (which they are!), but because it's clear that you are the kind of grandmother that everyone hopes for and that I was lucky enough to have and so were my children...one who loves everything about them!

Obviously they get their rhythm of life from you! No one I know marches to the beat of their own drum better than you.

They're lovely - and they make me long for my two, so far away.

OMGosh- They are the cutest little boys! I called Ria over to look at them (my 7 year old granddaughter) and she looked at your oldest gson and asked? How old is he? He's cute!...and so...it starts already! xo Diana

You write so beautifully! It just makes me all happy inside to read your posts. Your Grandsons - indeed, so precious. It makes me happy at the prospect of Grandchildren someday. :)
