She Brought Us Home

IMG_6621

This iron deer head that I found at Ross,

came home with me a few weeks ago to

join my

motley crew

of accessories.

I fell in love with its ‘heft’

and texture.

It , like so many of my new/old things,

is sitting

hither and yon

while I wait for inspiration.

Whether you call it organic,

or otherwise,

I enjoy things in my home

that look like

life wasn’t always perfect.

They send a silent message from me to all who enter.

”This lady is a little quirky,

but she means well.

She doesn’t take decorating

too seriously,

because after all,

she picked us,

She LOVES houses,

and she

LOVED

us enough to bring us home.”

I love a quirky gal. I've been called quirky a time or two myself...or was that kinky? No...I'm pretty sure it was quirky. We might be related! xo Diana

I have to say...I told my husband no antlers or eyeballs (aka deer heads or elk or fish) on the walls of our house. But...I LOVE your accessories. I'll show him this and we could compromise!

A little organic, a little flowery, a little frilly and a little modern - a whole lot of eclecticism at my house. Maybe that's why I enjoy looking at photos of yours so much!

You say quirky...I say brilliant!
Heft and texture...the exact same reasons I brought Cat Daddy home.

I love Ross! And I love your iron deer head. I'll bet if I walked into your home I'd feel so welcome. I do enjoy a comfortable space that is not overly decorated. :)

I feel the same way! Quirky, interesting, not cookie-cutter - those are my favorite kind of rooms.

I decorate the same way...whatever speaks to me. A home really isn't a home unless it surrounds us by things and memories we love. Loved your post.

I love him enough to bring him home, and am wondering if his brother is at my Ross store. I like your way of decorating, Laura. But then, I love an eclectic mix!

I am so pleased that you linked to Potpourri Friday. Your participation certainly makes the party more successful . I appreciate you, the most! I hope you will make this one of your regular stops each week!

I have so many neat items from Ross and TJ Maxx but not sure any of them have as much personality as the items you have gotten. It's always a joy to stop by. Happy weekend!

I always love your style of decorating! Our Ross (60 miles away) never has anything like this, but I am gonna be on the look out. He is beautiful!

Hi Laura...

Oooh...I love, love, LOVE your new cast iron deer head! What a sweet treasure find. That sweet little guy would have made its way into my cart...lickity-split! Hehe! I also like the deer horns on the beautiful red plate...gorgeous! I really do love autumn and I love decorating for the season!

Well dear lady, is south Texas cooling off at all yet? I'm thinking of planning a trip to see my girls, next month. Hoping that the temps have cooled off by then! I'm such a ninny now...living in Colorado...I just can't take the hot like I used to. Hope your having a wonderful weekend!

Warmest wishes,
Chari
