Dear Daughters: Stuff

Too much stuff

(Via Pinterist )

Dear Daughters,

Words have baggage too,

and the word

STUFF

is no different.

As in…

*too much stuff

(picture cabinets , drawers, closets, garages, and the occasional storage unit),

*to stuff oneself

(you get the picture),

and the common cry of this era,

*I have so much STUFF to do.

I think that is why I have always admired Jack Reacher

of Lee Child novel fame-

he has no STUFF.

So what is the answer?

I don’t know,

(you’ve seen my garage)

but
I keep working on it-

some days better than others.

If you ever feel like you have too much stuff to deal with,

’you came by it honest’,

as Papa would say.

We are after all collectors/explorers/finders.

I can offer one bit of advice:

Keep giving STUFF away

and focus on the GOOD STUFF.

Love,

Mom

PS.  Watch George Carlin’s famous monologue on STUFF

on YouTube.

Getting rid of "stuff' has been on my "to do list" for a long time now. Accomplished getting rid of some, but not enough.
Hope you are having a good week and staying cool.

Amen and amen. I just have more and more. I sell stuff all the time, donate but still fill up this place.

STUFF seems to rule my life... as we discussed recently. I sure like stuff though.. all kinds! As I proved to myself today as I tried to get rid of some of it. lol
I do remember George Carlin's "stuff" monologue. Maybe I should refresh my memory.
Love this post, Laura.

Stuff, it is a constant in our lives. Take stuff out, bring stuff back in. And it starts all over again!

Goodness, I talk about this all the time. My Mom use to tell me not to ever become a slave to my "stuff." I've been slowly but surely cleaning out and getting rid of stuff for the past several years. Now, if I could just Hubby to join in. Great post!

Laura- Guess what? I am so proud of myself! I took a WHOLE TRAILER LOAD of STUFF to Goodwill yesterday...or was it the day before? Anyway, it felt really good and freeing to do that...and now I have less stuff...(or worst case scenario-room for MORE stuff)..xo Diana

Stuff enters every aspect of our lives, doesn't it?

Hope you will stop by for a fun glass bottle platter giveaway! More stuff!

I found out the hard way about having/collecting stuff.
Moving stuff..as in across country from Denver to Florida..cost big bucks..so I started selling stuff to lighten the load, stuff which did not/could not sell..I gave away..
One quickly learns how valuable STUFF really is.. when the value is weighed by transportation costs.. as much as I love my books..25 boxes at 50lbs per box equals 1250 lbs...x$$$ = "I think they can be very easily replaced at our new home..so let's DONATE them to___!!!
feels so right!
Feels so good to be a lot LIGHTER!
hugs..
