Mackenzie - Childs, Graduation Luncheon, and Color

IMG_1014

On Saturday, I co-hosted a graduation luncheon for a dear English department colleague and friend’s daughter. The other two hostesses are also members of the English department at the high school where I taught.

I enjoyed being with them so much.

We held the luncheon at a local ladies for lunch restaurant, and we brought everything for the table.

Anna (a co-hostess) is a master at wrapping gifts.  We bought the honoree a Waterford jewelry holder.

Years ago I bought a box of milk glass vases at the flea market, and I used them to hold zinnias from my garden and lime green pom poms I bought at HEB.

Each guest received a small gift bag with a beaded bracelet.

Everyone ordered from the menu and chocolate earthquake cake with ice cream was the dessert most of the girls ordered .

I was so proud of my zinnias.

You should be proud of your zinnias. They are great and the little green mums just set them off. I know your friends felt very special with such a pretty table.

I may dream about those brownies and ice cream tonight.

What a beautiful table. I have new respect for those milk glass vases now - they just need some bright colors to make them 'pop'! Your zinnias are lovely, too. BTW - do you pronounce it as zin-ia (the 'i' like the 'i' in tin), or zeen-ya (with a long e)? The latter is the way I always heard it growing up, but I've noticed most gardeners use the first pronunciation. As an English teacher and gardener, I bet you know the correct way . . .
Cheers,
Leah
