C.S. Lewis and Blogging

"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another:
What! You too?
I thought I was the only one."
C. S. Lewis
This is a wonderful truth for me-
in the world of blogging.
Two reasons come to mind.

Reason #1
There is nothing better than realizing, as C.S. Lewis states,
that someone
gets it-
gets you-
feels the same way-
and understands-
your humor and your purpose.

What joy that is…

For example,
White Spray Paint ,
is an acquired taste
I think.

I like thinking of my blog as
that quirky shop on the edge of town,
that you may occasionally frequent .

It is
-out of the way
-has odd hours
- is sometimes open, sometimes closed
-has quirky inventory
-and a funky owner,
who may seem distracted,
but is always glad to see you.
Thank you for getting it and getting me.

Reason #2

  In blogging particularly,
with the wonders of internet technology,

we take turns
when we speak to each other.
There are no interruptions in
sharing our thoughts and ideas,
whether innermost or not.

For all intents and purposes,
is listening quietly and intently.

That is a precious gift that is hard to find
in today’s world.

This builds the best kind of sincere communication.

The mutual kind.
Thank you for that and for
to me.

I have been sitting and listening quietly to you for many, many months. I actually read your blog first, before I read the others in my "favorites" file. Thank you for always having something interesting to share and for being real. I definitely "get you"

I so love C S Lewis, always a wise word.
I pop in to see you , not every time, but when I do I always enjoy being here.

I love your CS Lewis's one of MY favorites. And I like the way you described yourself/your blog as a shop....funky, quirky...just my speed! I've had you as one of my favorites for quite a while. Who DOESN"T like White Spray Paint!?!??! :)

I love the "sometimes open, sometimes closed" description--my blogging has been very sporadic of late, but I can't bring myself to "close the doors" permanently. I think I'll continue to be one of those "sometimes open, sometimes closed" kind of blog "shops", too!

My favorite shops are the ones on the edge of town with the quirky owner...hmmm, no wonder I love your blog so much Laura.

C. S. Lewis always gets it right.

Oh yes - you speak to me. If your blog were a shop it would be one I'd drive by often, just to see if you were open.

You speak to me too, Laura! Prior to finding myself a blogger I had NO idea this world even existed beyond sports blogs and political blogs. (Of which I have NO intrest in What-so-ever!) I could not fathom the pleasure of blogging or the connection. Thank you for voicing it so beautifully!

What's that old saying "it takes one to know one"? From one throwed off broad to a quirky lady...thank goodness we got to know each other through blogging! I'd be lost without you and your "open all night" sign. You're my 7-11 when I thirst for something refreshing!

I so agree - I love that we connect with different blogs for different reasons, but there is always that little moment of "Oh you do that too".

Some of the reasons I stop by this quirky little blog: you have lines of character (wrinkles-in the next post), you garden, you fix up your house, you have grown children. In other words, you're like me and I "get you."
