Delight in Simple Things

IMG_8175

(Pattern:  Stangl Country Garden)

I have collected and gathered so many patterns of dishes over the years,

my husband recently asked,

”Are we using these now?”

Me:  “Hmm…yes.”

At the flea market last fall,

these were in a box under a table.

None of my finds are ever eye level.

The attraction?

The colors- especially the turquoise-

the hand painting,

the price ($25),

the heft,

the quantity of pieces,

and this.

Drinking coffee out of this mug is one of life’s great pleasures.

In fact, that’s it folks.

That is my ongoing ‘main idea’; that is my message

each time I write a post.

I may wrap it all up in my own quirky view of things,

or the humor I see in just about everything,

as in my Faux Twitter posts or my Anti-tutorials,

but the message is always the same.

Delight in Simple Things.

And yes, in my world,

it makes perfect sense for a  vintage coffee mug to say that.

We should ALL take delight in simple things. So often we're not satisfied with what we have. Love your pretty dishes, Laura. I need to bring out more of my own dishes. Why should they stay hidden in the pantry? Enjoy and take delight. I like that idea...

You're absolutely right Laura... delight in simple things... and always look under the bench and tables... cause that's where they keep the good stuff!

I posted some photos of Glory B's shop today... Beverly has her little shop filled to the rafters!

happy hunting... enjoy!

hugs. Dixie

I think that's why I love Scandinavia so much - they have perfected the enjoyment of simplicity. I don't mean that in the sense of minimalism, but in the sense of the best design being the simplest. It certainly leaves room for elegance too!

L.B.,
And for the coffee drinkers among us...there is nothing like the perfect cup. It's pure, simple, unadulterated delight!
You really should take me shopping with you. I could be a grea hound dog for you. My eye level is just about under-table-height.

The older we get, the wiser we get. I wish I had realized in my twenties and thirties just how special the simple things in life really are. I hope that each day I will remember to delight in all the blessings that come my way...and many of them are just the simple, ordinary things that we often overlook. Thanks for the reminder.
