It Keeps Me Honest

IMG_8452

This past weekend my gardening season began in earnest,

and

I am better for it.

It keeps me honest.

”Wax on- wax off.”
As in simple, hard , physical work.

Remember that line from Karate Kid?

I was aided by fragrance everywhere.

My jasmine is blooming-

and my orange trees are blooming.

Heaven .

I wish this photo had a scratch and sniff feature

so you could experience it too.

And so,

I do better when I work.

And yes, I sometimes work too hard,

and my muscles hurt,

and as a result I walk funny,

and my yard clothes get as dirty as a toddler’s,

but I have a smile on my face,

and

today for the first time this year,

I ran the water hose all over my face.

Heaven.

So hard for me to relate that your jasmine is blooming while I wait on 7 inches of snow! My spring is coming.... just not yet.

I'm with you. I spent a large part of Sunday in the yard. Then I had to take an Aleve! My Mountain Laurel is in full-bloom, but that is about it. Oh, I have several gerbera daisies blooming.
Blessings,
Lorilee

Things are blooming here too...so strange since they've been blooming all February! I told my hubby this week that I wanted some new nooks & crannies in our yard this year. He told me to show him what I want and he'll do it. Problem is I don't know what I want!!! Guess I'd better be looking for some ideas:)

Oh, Laura girl, you are making me LONG for Spring. I can remember the smell of magnolias and orange blossoms when I lived in the South. There is nothing like it in the world. AND there is nothing like running that hose over your face when it is so hot you can hardly stand it-what a wonderful feeling- xo Diana

Oh, I can't wait for my gardening to begin. But we're going away for the weekend so it will have to wait until the following weekend. Such beautiful pictures. Please make sure you link up to my Wild About Mother Nature Party which started tonight. This is the perfect post. :)
Blessings, Barb

I am so jealous. We have a few more months before I can start digging in the dirt. Love the petunias.

I can't wait! The water in the pails outside the henhouse is frozen solid! I won't be spraying anything with water until the cold snap is over. I love all that colour you've shown - bring it on!

I definitely remember the phrase from karate kid. I love jasmine...I had it at my former home, but not here...I just may have to change that.
I can relate to the pure joy that comes from working in the garden. I can't wait...I've one day of it so far...looking forward to more.
Happy to follow along with you as your newest follower.

I was just enjoying reading your Thoughts posts and realized you are a Texas girl. Me too!
I'm in a suburb north of Houston. Sounds like you've found some good towns to shop...none of which I've been to. Guess I need to change that.

L.B.,
I wish the dirt I'm sportin' came fron the garden. Sadly...it's not as fragrant!
A little is blooming here...including this blooming idiot.

P.S. I think I'll live on the edge today and drink to you...from the hose.
