Silver Sunday: Antique Jewelry from Taxco

IMG_0437

Silver jewelry has always been an all-time favorite of mine, and when my mother gave me my grandmother’s jewelry from Taxco, I started a collection of my own.

Taxco is a city in Mexico that is known for its silver jewelry and silver designers.

The clamper bracelet in the photo above is a favorite and is comfortable to wear, and the second bracelet is from an antique show I attended years ago in McAllen.

Daughter #3 ‘borrows’ this bracelet frequently.

Along with several pairs of screw back earrings, these bracelets belonged to my grandmother.  I have worn the black onyx bracelet the most, but I love them all- especially the blue set which goes with this.

Over the years I have had other silver favorites- too many to count. (understatement…)

Oh, Be. Still. My. Heart. I adore old Taxco but I've only got one piece of it. When I watched the movie about Freda Kahlo I wanted all of the pieces she wore...

Thanks for stopping by my blog AND I'll definitely be visiting you often.

Those pieces are just gorgeous, Laura!

You still live in McAllen, right?
Did I ever tell you that my husband taught at Rowe High School there for many years? We lived in La Feria a couple of years ago, wish I'd known there was a kindred spirit down by the border while I was there. :-)

I have a love of silver jewelery too. I don't have anything too valuable but I do have pieces that have stories and sentiment. Love your collection!

I have a weakness for silver, too! Yours, especially the onyx bracelet, is beautiful.

Laura, Taxco silver is always beautifully elegant. My mother had a few pieces. You are lucky to have these from your grandmother. It's so special to have family pieces that you can enjoy and pass along to your daughters someday. Thank you for sharing these.
