The Heat

IMG_6205

(Grandson #2 in their hide-out, under a mesquite tree at the back of our yard.

Rancho Landscaping at its most practical.)

We all handle the heat in different ways,

and we certainly all have a heat story this summer.

I have had a terrible bout with bronchitis/laryngitis this week of

heat and grandsons visiting.

Thank goodness Daughter #2 lives nearby.

This afternoon I decided to embrace it (the heat) for just a bit, and do a little of what needed to be done.

That lasted about 10 minutes.

So tonight for the boys last night here,

we are having

meat loaf

carrots

macaroni and cheese

green salad

and

fresh corn and butter

for supper.

I see a mango supreme on the horizon for dessert.

That sounds like a good home-cooked meal! You lasted being outside about as long as I do. Out to water the potted plants and back in. All in about 10 minutes.

That first picture is so cute. I hope you feel better.
Nasty to be sick in the summer and babysitting on top of it. Stay cool.

Girl...for that to be my supper, I'd have my feet under a table at Boston Market! How on earth do you pull something like that off with those two precious rabble rousers?

P.S. I have drove the wheels off my Exploder trying to find a vintage hammock like yours!

I think that between that darling picture and your menu, you have pretty much defined "goodness" in this post.

My childhood home in Wichita Falls had the largest mesquite tree smack in the middle of the front yard. My mom would always plant pansies around it in the Fall. Such great memories!!!!!!!!! Oh, and I remember that flippin heat as well!

I love this! I am expecting my first grandbaby in March and I am secretly hoping for a boy! (But either one will be loved unconditionally!)
The pictures you took could have been taken at my house 15 years ago following my son around!
So cute, especially the darts on the door! LOL
