Milk Glass Dessert Sets

IMG_0503

These dessert sets were such a good idea-

back in the day when elegance and comfort and convenience were equally important.

I have about 20 sets , and I use them often -

at a dinner party for friends earlier this week,

at bridal showers, baby showers, and any other occasion where ladies gather together and punch,

coffee, and delicious desserts are served.

I have collected milk glass for at least 25 years, and I still love it so.

Sigh…

Modern is not always better, right?

Oh, I wish I had some dessert sets or sandwich sets. They are so delicate.
On occasion I find one. 1 lone plate.
They are always oddly shaped. Rectangles, oblong, shell-shaped...
I never find them with cups. Always lone plates.
I find it fascinating that you have collected and OWN 20 SETS!!!

The milk glass is pretty.

No, modern is not always better and when it's pretty and classic like this it looks modern :) Love these!

I've been collecting milk glass for about ten years and I haven't come across anything that I didn't love...including your dessert plates! Great find.

Those things that you use over and over become so special. They carry a lot of memories.

I have a couple of clear glass dessert sets that I use often as well for the very same reasons as you. They are so fun for a girls lunch.

Modern is better every once in a while! ;-) I LOVE your sets, and it reminds me of my mom, who was always hostessing some event. She had the crystal/glass sets like that. Being a minister's wife kept her busy. But she loved her calling. You are inspiring with your hostess gifts and skills. I know whoever comes to your get-togethers must have a blast. Thanks for sharing Laura, it was fun to see these sets and set my mind down memory lane... I find it fun that what is NOT modern so many times comes back around and is considered "mod"...Milk glass is beautiful and I have a number of pieces, but not party sets.((hugs))

I love these sets, too, though I don't own any -- YET! I noticed on eBay that my Castleton Gloria pattern includes snack sets, and I am SORELY tempted! The milk glass ones are beautiful and so versatile!

Milk glass looks so beautiful displayed in a pine hutch. My step-mother had an extensive collection and the hutch was so large it took up one wall. She packed up the milk glass and gave the hutch to her son who promptly halved the hutch and put it in his garage for a work place. I couldn't believe it. I told her the hutch was worth at least $6000. She promptly called her son but it was too late. Guess the adage about one man's trash.... is true.

I have never seen the milk glass snack sets. They are so pretty. I have stacks of the apple plates and cups and the ones that look like candlewick but aren't. Love to use them for appetizers.

I love the milk glass "hostess sets" which is what my mother called them... "back in the day" as they say. Yours are especially nice!!

I started collecting milk glass about three years ago. For my daughters wedding. I thought I'd sell it all afterwards. But I love it so much I've just kept on collecting! Love your dessert sets.
