Raspas and Michael Jackson

IMGP0091

“Uh-oh.”

“Tank you.”

“Uh-oh.”

“Tank you.”

These were the sounds coming from the back seat of my car, as my youngest grandson (age 2) ate his Blue Hawaiian raspa from the Snowball Express. I knew blue raspa was probably in his baby ears, but I just kept driving… and laughing.

You see today was the day I decided it was time to take my grandsons (ages 2 and 5)to a raspa (snow cone) stand. With the help of my middle daughter, we headed to the Snowball Express, a highly recommended establishment in a neighboring community.

Here are some of the choices on the menu.

IMGP0085

Our order? Two medium Blue Hawaiians, one large diet Blue Coconut, and…

this…

IMGP0096

A Mango Supreme, a sinful concoction of mango raspa, chunks of fresh mango, vanilla ice cream, freshly sliced coconut, and almonds.

This was Grandmother’s Treat. I’ll have to do zumba in my sleep to off-set this number.

That was a memory in the making.

The second, I hope ,was listening to Michael Jackson on the way there. We all sang and nodded our heads to the music.

My wish for today? Never forget that music boys and never forget our carefree, messes don’t matter , trip to the Snowball Express.

One of my very favorite memories from childhood is when Tish's Delish would open in the summer and that first rainbow snow cone!
I'll say you created a memory and one of the best in years to come!
BTW, G'mom earned her Mango Supreme!!!

You will forever be Cool Grandma! What a great choice for music -did some similar with my DD
a week or so ago - we spent a couple hours pulling MJ videos from You Tube -she really hadn't paid much attention to him before -now she understands.

Oh my, Laura! You get the grandma award for the day! What a fun outing and such wonderful memories for the grandchildren! I was seriously checking out the menu and studying the possibility of a dreamsicle raspa! Now that brings back grammar school memories for me! Have a great Wednesday!...Debbie

That Mango Supreme does look rather sinfully delicious! Worth the calories, I'm sure. And your grandsons are adorable!

I'm not sure that the rest of the world has "rrrrrrrraspa"(rolling my 'r') stands like we do in TX, and of course they don't call them "raspa", they call them snow cones... but no matter where you are... they are good and can cool you off... I'll be working on the southside of San Antonio today... and I know just the raspa stand I'll be visiting about 3pm... yummy...

As Dixie pointed out, we call them snow cones, thus, I had no clue what you were talking about!!

Your little cuties have memories in the making! Glad you are having a wonderful time, Laura! :-)

They are just adorable, truly they are! I laughed when I read you had a daughter to help. I always feel that way too. How did I raise 3 daughters with very little help, but 3 grandsons?? I like having some extra hands. Is it my age showing or are boys just a little different than girls? some of each, I would say.

Sounds like a very fun day you had.

Girl - that is so special. I can't do that with mine. Every moment spent with grands are special.

What a great post and a great trip! Love this song, too. After all is said and done, it is very sad, isn't it?

How sweet are little faces colored with sugary blue sticky stuff! Couldn't you just kiss em all up! What a fun trip! I love raspas - that mango made me gain 5 lbs just looking at it!
