Here’s Your Chance

question mark

I have some questions, and I know that you have the answers.

Don’t worry about thinking ‘I can’t believe she doesn’t know the answer to that’.  I taught high school English for a zillion years, and I can not be embarrassed anymore than I was in the classroom . So go for it- it is OK to think it.

I still need answers.

In the sidebar blog lists/rolls of many blogs, a photo appears by the new post title.  Why does it appear on some and not others? (Like mine for example…)

If I would like to consolidate my labels into about 6 key terms (instead of the current 862 I now have), do I need to go back into each post and re-label? I think I know the answer to this question, and I don’t like the answer.

Do you write several posts at once and date them, or are you writing each day as I am? I enjoy (love) writing each day, but there are other things in life…right? I mean there are, right?

If I want to have a link in my sidebar that leads into archived posts for a specific label (example ‘home’), should I just give up and take up the violin?

And finally, are you as amazed as I am at the constantly morphing number of creative, intelligent, funny, heartfelt, informative, kindred spirited blogs there are?

I only know the answer to your last question. The answer is, yes. I am amazed everyday that there are so many people out there that are obsessed with the same things as me. Hee, hee, hee!

I really don't know the answers to your other questions, so I will definatley be checking back to see what others have to offer.

Oh Laura, I too am amazed. I continue to meet new and wonderful people every day!! Those were some good questions. I'm afraid I can't answer all of them, but one I do know is that I don't blog every day. Sometimes I have nothing to blog about, and other times, when I have free time, I just want to read/comment on other blogs. When I do post, I can feel the creative juices flowing so I might write a few at once and just save some to post later (haven't figured out how to change the date to the actual posting date though). I'm still learning, just like you. That's what makes us kindred spirits I guess!

Oh girl... let's see if I can help you here... then you can gev me sum Anglish lesuns... k?

sidebar blogs... under "customize" select "Configure Blog List" then it give you the options...
"Show All blogs- 5 blogs- 10 blogs- 25 blogs
Icon
X Title of most recent item
Snippet of most recent item
X Thumbnail of most recent item
X Date of last update
you select what you want to show and then you add your blogs one by one... by URL... I X'd the ones I choose on my blog...

Labels... yes... you'd have to go back to each post...

Some posts I plan ahead, write and then schedule to post when I want them to... others I just decide "today I'll write about this"... meme's ... I usually do ahead...

sidebar link to older post... I don't think you can do it by label... I've never tried... but you can link to a specific post. go again to "customize" and choose to add a photo... there you can add a photo, links, titles and comments.. that's what I do when sending someone to another blog having a giveaway... or the link that I have back to the original Wordless Wednesday post for instructions...

and yes... i am always amazed.. especially by other women... we rock!

Hope this helps... send me an email if you need more help...

Okay, I can help with writing posts ahead of time and scheduling them to post later. After writing a post, click on Post Options just below the post. Then change the date and the time you want the post to be made. Then click "publish". Don't click "save". If you click "publish," your post will appear on your blog at the time you selected.

I frequently use this option for some of the Memes. I will write them a day or two ahead of time and then schedule them to post at 1 a.m. on the day of the Meme event. That way early risers can read them. Of course, I then have to go link them to the hosting blog after they appear.

And I discover new blogs every day. Just wish I had time to leisurely read them all.

Man, Dixie wrote all my answers already!
haha.
Not really. I've been wondering about some of this stuff too. I did know how to schedule a post for a later date, but not about blog roll stuff. I don't have one on my blog. I just don't like it to be to cluttered looking.

I want to know how people put those little tabs at the top of their blogs like home, recipes, about me. etc.

Yes, blogging has introduced me to alot of amazing women out there in our big world.
I would love to live next door to a number of you. It would be a blast.

Yes, Dixie gave you some great tips! I choose thumbnail and title only to post in my side bar. This helps me with my blog reading. I am a busy mama with kids and activities, but I love to blog and read others. There are SO many amazing ladies who blog...it's never ending. I have to limit myself...but I usually say...I'll read JUST one more, then off I go. I don't watch much tv...so blogging fills that time for me.

I usually blog write as I go. There are times something comes to me and I pre-write and set the date to be published. If I have a really busy week ahead I will do this as well.

Yes, you have to go back and label each post. I've been thinking about doing this myself.

Click on the icon that looks like an owl if you want to link to something in your post.

Gotta get my son in bed...

I think all of your questions have been answered. I usually blog as I go. Most of the time it is every other day. When I participate in a planned event I write the post early. I love meeting people in blogland. Like someone else said I would love to live next door to many of you!:-)

Oh well Dixie answered the question I could help you with. Ha.

And I mostly write each day, but if I ever have extra time, I'll do some of my Meme posts ahead of time. :o)

Looks like your questions were answered. Thanks for asking about the blog list and having pictures next to titles. I always wondered the same thing. I'm also wondering how everyone (including you) gets those pictures to show up below your post to show other related stories you might like.

I blog as I go when the urge hits and when I have time. It's sometimes a complete star and moon lineup for "urge" and "time" to occur simultaneously.

Also - you won a free tube of lotion! Send me your address and I'll get it right out to you!
