Remember These?

birdbath

After four days out of town, for the engagement party we hosted and my husband’s shoulder surgery, I came home to this.

And this.

And this.

This is the absolute power of the South Texas sun, temperatures reaching the low 90’s , and dry, relentless wind.

Back to watering daily and telling my plants how sorry I am.

The engagement party was a great success, although it didn’t quite look like my planning.  Why?

                                   It rained.

So although these items were used out on the lawn on tables and under tents , everyone had to gather on the patio and in the house.

Oh well.  We are home safe and sound, my husband’s surgery went well, and (here comes my favorite new expression)

                            It is what it is.

Have you been getting all this rain like we have since yesterday. Your poor plants. They needed that rain didn't they.
All the blue and white is so pretty.
Sorry the rain dampened your party plans.
I'm sure it was lovely still.

Oh your poor flowers could've used some of Indiana's rain. Well heck they are not even flowers now are they. Maybe some TLC will bring them back from the base.

I love your blue and white vases. They are beautiful.

Girl, you must be a lot nicer than I am. I'd kick my hubbies rear end if he forgot to water my plants. I hope you can revive them.

I love your saying: It is what it is.

Sorry about your plants. I am glad that the party went well. The arrangements are so pretty! I am also glad that your husband's shoulder surgery went well. You have certainly had plenty of excitement in your life these last few weeks. Maybe it will calm down some now. Have a great day!

That is one of my favorite expressions, ever! It sums everything up very neatly. I am so sorry things did not go quite as planned. It still looked beautful. Plants can be replaced...making someone feel special? Well, that just cannot be duplicated and you did just that. Hope your husband continues to heal and get strong. Debbie

Glad to know your hubby is doing well. Sorry about the plants, and the rain on the party. Don't know where you are, but just saw on the weather channel about certain areas in Texas getting record rain fall. Glad the party went well for you.

Awww, Laura ... I'm so sorry about your pretty flowers. The blue and white vases and yellow flowers were stunning, though ... and I'm glad your husband's surgery went well.

I love your new expression -- it reminds me of the song, "Que Sera, Sera!"

Laura..,. those first pics look like my hanging baskets look like at some point each year... I have a note on our memo board that says "Water flowers"... so for the past month, I've remembered... but at some point... they'll still look like yours...

glad everything else went well...

I thought of you this weekend... while buying white spray paint at Home Depot... I'll be posting soon... if we can get past the rain and wind so I can get outside and spray!

hugs. Dixie

First let me thank you so much for following my blog. Many times I am not so sure it is worth it, but I am trying hard to learn.

I completely identified with returning home to find your plants...no longer! Doesn't it make you feel just terrible?! Now here I am facing another summer trip to Maine. I have even thought of not going because I KNOW what I will return to. California has summers much like Texas I think. Hot, dry and destructive.
I hope I get to know you. Again...thanks SO much!

Oops...I wanted to comment on the beautiful blue and white china. I loved the way you had the bread displayed in the blue bowl. Really beautiful. I must go back and find out who the engagement party was for. I am off to explore.. :)

P.S. I have CANS of white spray paint in my garage. LOVE that stuff. It covers a multitude of sins! :) Yes...I think exactly that! It can make nearly anything look wonderful!
